Description of course: Write and Sell Your Adult or Children's Non-Fiction Book Proposal
If you have an idea for a non-fiction book, or think that you want to come up with one, this course will give you the tools to create and sell a non-fiction book proposal. This INTENSIVE, one-on-one course is conducted via e-mail and on the Web, allowing you to participate at your own pace and on your own schedule.
Almost anyone can write a non-fiction book – you can, too! Whether you are interested in how-to, creative, self-help, technical, children's, descriptive or other types of non-fiction, this course will take you through the process of developing the idea, writing the proposal and sending it out to appropriate agents or publishers. Learn what the most important part of a non-fiction book proposal is and how to grab an editor's attention.
Find out why you shouldn't actually write the book before you sell it. Learn when to send a proposal or query to agents and editors. Understand the process that a non-fiction book proposal goes through at a publishing house. Pick up tips on book proposal format and technique that will help yours stand out from the crowd.
At the end of the course, students will have a complete book proposal, cover letter and query, as well a list of places to send it to.
